Phosphor Project Space was an art exhibition and performance venue in Wilkinsburg, PA that ran from 2018-2021. It was co-founded and directed by Centa Schumacher and Nathan Byrne from 2018-2019, and from 2019-2021 was directed solely by Centa Schumacher.
Phosphor Project Space was non-commercial exhibition venue that focused on giving emerging artists the opportunity to engage new audiences. Created as way to bypass the traditional gallery system, it saight to provide an accessible, inclusive platform for experimentation, engagement, and fellowship. It was our priority to show the work of underrepresented local artists and give them room to push their practice into new places.
95% of all artists who exhibited in the gallery lived and worked in the Pittsburgh area.
