Spaceways is a body of work that explores the expansive, mystical qualities of the images of deep space. Attracted to how both New Age practitioners and the scientific community are inspired by similar imagery, I turn my lens onto natural crystals selected for their metaphysical healing properties. The resulting large-scale images exist with both softness and precision, recalling photographs taken with advanced technology like the Hubble Space Telescope. Both the New Age and scientific communities are attempting to understand the world on their own terms, but this work peers through each of these worlds, doubting that either can completely eradicate mystery.
